Frequently asked questions on dataspace

Frequently asked questions on dataspace

Is a data space a software platform we all have to migrate to?

No. It’s a governance model and a set of shared services that let your existing systems interoperate securely. You don’t upload everything to a central place.

Will my competitors see my recipes?

Only if you allow it. You can publish derived indicators (e.g., mass balance, recycled content, CO₂e per kg) with selective access, and keep formulations confidential—enforced by the data space’s usage‑policy building block.

How does this relate to EU legislation like the DPP?

The ESPR provides the legal basis for DPPs; data spaces help companies collect and share the required attributes (e.g., substances of concern, composition, compliance) in a machine‑readable and interoperable way.
