Towards Circular Plastics Through Data Sharing

Across Europe, plastics industries face increasing regulatory and societal pressure to use more recycled materials and to provide better transparency on what goes into their products. Whether it’s through REACH, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), or the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), companies are now required to trace materials, disclose product composition, and improve overall circularity.

This demand for traceability doesn’t stop at manufacturers — it now involves a wider range of actors: recyclers, auditors, NGOs, lifecycle assessment (LCA) experts, and material testing labs. All of these stakeholders contribute to an increasingly complex information value chain.

CircPlastX’s objective

CircPlastX is developing a dedicated data space to support the plastics industry in its transition towards a more circular economy. Our goal is to enable secure and efficient data sharing along the entire plastics value chain — from raw materials to end-of-life.

The platform will serve as a centralised portal for accessing and exchanging key data related to:
